Academic Programs
The Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy is housed in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and is composed of research work in addition to its academic programs.
The academic program to facilitate the study of energy, marine transportation and public policy is administered through the International Energy Management and Policy (IEMP) track within the Energy and Environment concentration at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
This track of study is pursued through three graduate programs at
SIPA: Master of International Affairs (MIA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and the Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM). This offers an integrated treatment of the structure and issues of energy business and policy development, and provides a thorough understanding of energy industry fundamentals.
In addition to the IEMP track of study, there are a number of activities that enrich the student's experience such as membership in the Student Energy Association, countless events sponsored by the Center to facilitate greater understanding of the field (in addition to career-oriented sessions), and participation in student workshops which connect the academic program with real world applications. The vigor of the IEMP track, complemented by faculty composed of leaders in the field and an enriched student life consisting of organized associations and events provide for a unique preparation for a career in energy, marine transportation and public policy.
