Resources For Students IEMP Concentrators in Action Summer 2007 Internships The profiles below represent a handful of second-year IEMP concentrators who interned this summer in various energy-related companies and organizations. These profiles give you an idea of the array of career opportunities available to energy concentrators. Click here to begin reading the profiles. IEMP Worldwide Alumni SIPA's Office of Career Services launched the new Global Connection Alumni Career Advisory Program (ACAP) website. Profiles: IEMP Concentrators in Action Kate Bashford Kate worked for Urban Agenda, a non-profit based in NYC that addresses clean energy economic development and job growth. Kate worked primarily on a report entitled "Growing Green Collar Jobs," and authored a reference guide for the construction trades detailing the skills, knowledge, and training necessary for workers in the high performance new construction industry. Antoine Delaprée Antoine interned at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington D.C. in the Advisory Services department. Antoine and his team provided sellside advisory services to governments on privatization of infrastructure in developing countries. Chinonso Emehelu Chinonso worked at ExxonMobil in Houston, TX with the Public Affairs group, and was affiliated with the ExxonMobil Production Company's Public Affairs Advisor team. His summer projects, among others, included operations support for a strategic relations plan, emergency response support, African Energy outlook, and Nigeria Energy profile. Edward Kott As a member of PIRA's Global Emissions Service, Edward researched industry and policy trends and analyzed their potential impacts on carbon markets around the world. Edward authored pieces for the service's monthly and quarterly reports that covered topics including Germany's nuclear industry, Australian mitigation proposals, Chinese Clean Development Mechanism projects, and the Canadian cement industry. Natalia Lesnic Natalia interned for three months with A.T. Kearney Global Strategy Consulting. She worked on two utility projects in Germany and Romania, where she focused on market analysis and growth strategy development. Natalia believes the knowledge gained in SIPA Finance and Economics courses were particularly helpful in completing her internship. David McCormick During the second semester of Dave's first year, and during the first part of this summer, Dave interned with a hedge fund in NYC that specializes in energy and environmental markets. He analyzed potential investments in carbon and water markets. For the last 10 weeks of the summer, Dave interned with Chevron in San Ramon, CA. He worked with the company's Corporate Health, Environmental and Safety office on climate change policy and focused particularly on Carbon Capture and Sequestration. Sara Pasquier Sara worked as a summer analyst for the Association of Oil Pipelines. As part of her duties, she researched the transportation of crude oil and products by water carriers, trains, pipelines and trucks, assisted with research and development of pipeline biofuel transportation, and organized an exhibit on pipeline damage prevention efforts. Francesco Sensidoni Francesco Sensidoni worked as a researcher for the Nicaraguan Embassy. Later in the summer he traveled to China in order to research CDM projects that can be replicated in Nicaragua to combat energy shortages. © 2008 CEMTPP |
