Research
CEMTPP conducts research on current energy and marine transportation issues. Four research programs have been launched in 2007 to cover
major aspects of the contemporary policy agenda:
- The Urban Energy program conducts wide-ranging research on energy policy, markets, regulation, and
technologyall viewed from an urban perspective. Projects examine the role cities are playing in shaping energy usage and
policies, and seek to catalyze change in pursuit of essential policy objectives such as energy efficiency, the deployment of less
carbon-intensive energy sources, energy-related economic development, and the elimination of fuel poverty.
- The 'Marine transportation 2030' program focuses on essential drivers for the maritime industry seen
as an essential contributor to global economic and energy value-chains. The '6+1' program combines insights from six targeted research
projects (on Ports & global logistics, technology, international governance etc.) to generate alternative scenarios to 2030.
- The Global Energy Governance program fosters high-level dialogue on the policy
and regulatory implications of energy interdependence. In 2007-2008, the emphasis is on Eurasia and the role of transit countries.
- The Energy and Water Services for Rural Africa program mobilizes
students, faculty and NGO partners for analysis of field work on concrete projects focusing on enterprise development at the rural
village scale.
Opportunities are also provided for students to undertake research projects with the guidance of CEMTPP faculty.
