Fourth Annual Spring Energy Symposium
Friday, March 28
SEA and the Energy Club of the Business School will be partnering with the Earth Institute and the Economist to host a panel on Identifying Energy Solutions for Sustainable Development. This panel will be keynoted by Paula DiPerna, executive vice president of the Chicago Climate Exchange. The morning panel will be followed by a networking lunch at SIPA. 2008 NYMEX Trading Challenge
Wednesday, April 11
SEA is competing in the NYMEX Desk (electronic) Trading Challenge against schools from around the country throughout the spring semester. This competition allows students to trade Natural Gas and Crude Oil contracts on the CQG platform in real time and provides students an opportunity to learn about the dynamics of energy markets. SEA will also be co-hosting with Hofstra Univeristy the NYMEX Open Out-Cry Challenge at the NYMEX on April 11th. This event will include a tour of NYMEX, trading training session, and a trading competition in NYMEX trading pits. Around 15 schools from around the country are expected to participate.

2008 Spring Break Trip to Brazil
12 members of SEA will travel to Brazil to examine energy issues. The trip will include a visit to an ethanol plant, a tour of Petrobras facilities, a meeting with government ministers, and discussions with several energy-related businesses.

Examining Electricity in New York
Members of SEA will travel to local power plants at the end of the semester. SEA will also host Ken Klapp from the New York Independent Systems Operator.
